Sgt. Anthony Lee Daniels-Miller
Anthony Lee Miller was a police sergeant who died unexpectedly September 1997 at the age of 32 due to a heart fibulation. Prior to his death he would collect money from fellow officers and friends to buy food and gifts at Thanksgiving and Christmas for disadvantaged children whom he came in contact during his patrols.
He loved children and the children naturally gravitated to him and also being an animal lover, his fellow officers told us about when he would stop at a convenience store and buy cat food for the stray cats at the store. The cats knew the sound of his patrol car so when they heard his car pull up in front of the store, they would come running from behind the store.
We created the Sergeant Anthony Lee Daniels-Miller Memorial Fund in order to continue to benefit disadvantaged children at Christmas where the funds are provided to PAL for the children to “shop with a cop”for presents at Walmart. We also set up a college scholarship given at the annual Policemen Ball as well as a Police Academy scholarship at EFSC.
