The David W. Matte Business Scholarship
David W. Matte is a U.S. Navy veteran, accomplished professional, and lifelong community servant. He proudly served his country as an Intelligence Specialist, with assignments in South Korea and the Philippines, where he played a critical role in intelligence collection and analysis during his military career. Following his service, David devoted more than 35 years to L3Harris Technologies, retiring in 2020 as a Principal Financial Analyst. His career was marked by multiple leadership awards recognizing his financial expertise and contributions to advancing global defense initiatives.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, David has been deeply committed to civic leadership and community service. He served on numerous boards in Palm Bay and Brevard County, including Planning & Zoning, Redistricting, and Charter Review Commissions, and was recognized as Palm Bay’s Volunteer of the Year in 2002. David also dedicated his time to the Melbourne Art Festival, The Haven for Children, and continues to give back through his role on the Florida Atlantic University Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Through the establishment of this scholarship, David extends his legacy of service and leadership to future generations. His generosity helps ensure that students have the opportunity to pursue higher education, follow their passions, and make a lasting difference in their communities.
